2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the 45 little trees twinkling the length and breadth of Thames Ditton High Street. The Christmas Lights were founded by local resident Tricia W. Bland who organised the specially commissioned tree brackets in 2011, a year after she arranged the installation of the lime tree lights, consolidating Thames Ditton village as being the best place in Elmbridge to see the Christmas Lights.
This year’s High Street Christmas Lights will be switched on during the weekend of 27 and 28 November. The Thames Ditton Farmers’ Market will kick off the annual celebrations with its first Christmas market on Saturday, 27 November (9am – 1pm, Mercer Close Car Park), with gifts galore on many arts and crafts, food and drink stalls. The second Christmas Farmers’ Market will be on Sunday 19 December (9am – 1pm).
Sadly there won’t be a Christmas Fair in the Street again this year, but throughout December all our High Street shops and businesses will be pulling out the stops in terms of their festive offerings inviting everyone in the community to shop local and spend quality time in our wonderful cafes, restaurants and pubs in the run up to Christmas.
